New News From The PPI Workshop

…And we’re back!
First and foremost I would like to thank all of you guys out there who have supported Pretty Poet Ink even if it’s through liking the page, reading & commenting on the blog, and [most importantly] buying the products. The turn-out at the flea market was not as successful as one may have hoped, however, we got the word out there and the interest in the website has gone up which is always great. Just remember to keep spreading the word!! Referring the brand is always free.

Any how, I thought I’d share with you guys the handmade packaging that I created for the flea market!
Of course it was tiresome cutting out all the cards, especially for the earrings (as they’re about 100 of them). However, it looks cute, has all the info and I’ve decided that all my online orders will come in this packaging now.
I also created a few last minute pieces for the flea including these inverse earrings I’ve named Elisabeta & Mina after the two characters Winona Ryder played in Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Considering she was the reincarnation of one, I figured it fit.
This little darling here (seen as the top) are earrings I also made last minute to match my Crystal Gears steam punk necklace from the previous post.
In continuing with my Steam Punk kick, I revamped this necklace and gave it a simpler look. I’m MUCH happier with the look!
Then, I decided that I liked the Crystal Gears necklace & earrings so much, that I’d make several more in different colors like green,
pink/purple
and beige/brown, all with accompanying earrings.
ALSO I’ve completed the Mixed Medium family with its two multi-color pieces
and the pieces above are all up for grabs at the website! I will be making further color combinations of the Mixed Medium and will even take requests! Just message me on the facebook page and lemme know!
I’ve also decided to bring back an old one – my God Bless the Queen Bracelet is back, modified with new charms & embellishments.
And last but not least….
MY BIG CUSTOM ORDER!!

So I don’t know if I’ve mentioned to you before, but I love wedding pieces and will [hopefully] be venturing off into the world of wedding accessories like veils, combs, clips and of course jewelry! A friend of mine is getting married and told her I’d definitely make something for her wedding. Well, she took the offer and this is what I’ve been cooking up: ecru/ivory pearls with gold-glitter velvety ribbon and a beautiful gold-tone rhinestone brooch.
Once the piece is complete, I’ll show it to you, and if you’ve got an idea for a custom piece and would love to have it made by moi, you know all you have to do is ask!
That’s it for now.

New Necklaces and Ring Assortments

Hello Followers!

Once again, I’d like to thank you guys for checking up to see the newest and latest coming out of the Pretty Poet Ink workshop. As of late, I’ve been crunching on making new pieces for both the online store and my upcoming flea November 11th at Artists & Fleas in Brooklyn! I’d really like for you guys to spread the word and show your faces because you’ll finally get to see everything that I have to offer in person. I’ll even let you try some stuff on! =D

Anyway, I’ve been working on several new necklaces and assortment of rings. And as always, I’ve got the photos to prove it:

So what we’ve got here is a multi-strand necklace made with the rope chain from two entries back that I said I would re-use. The colors are as you can see a chocolate brown, ecru and teal.

Then we’ve got this necklace I’ve named “Bejeweled” It reminds me of the game with all the color glass gems I worked together and the giant topaz pendant!

This is a piece I’m proud of. After months (maybe a year even?) of not making wire wrapped rings, I came up with this when the adhesive approach failed me.
And I liked it so much that I did it again with this flower focal!

I finally made use of my smaller cabochons by adhering them to these cool filigree pieces in antique silver

antique copper
and antique brass!

Now these earrings came about through a chance happening really. I had an initial design in mind when one of the parts fell on top of each other and looked like this. I I liked this look much better and voila! It was born.
And finally, I added two new pairs of earrings to my crystal floral earrings. There was Acquaria (sold), Inviera (Red) and Lavender (Purple). Now we have Arboria (Green) and Flora (Pink).
Stay tuned, as I have another entry coming up on a few new pieces, many of which are steam-punk inspired.
And I will be trying my absolute bestest to have all these items up on the site this week. Hopefully they should be ALL up by Saturday (Oct 27th) morning.
Love

Alterations Time!

Alterations Time!!
Hello again!
So after posting photos of my chunky chain bracelet, I got a request to do a necklace to match. Now, I must admit that the chain used for the bracelet is mighty heavy, so I thought to myself, if I were to make a necklace for it, it would have to be with chain that’s much lighter.
After a trip to my fave store MICHAELS, I found chain that not only resembled the chunky bracelet chain, but was much smaller and lighter to make the wearer feel less bogged down. I then went to my necklace with the antiqued rope chain, and removed the toggle on that and so this:

transfers into this:
I got some new beads that I will be working on that rope chain with – so look forward to seeing new pieces by the end of this week!
tell me what you think!

Adding to the Inventory

WELCOME BACK!!
Hello there darling PPI followers! As you can see, I’ve been working on getting some more pieces together for my flee market @ Artists and Fleas coming up and so, here are a few more pieces that I’ve added to the collection!
Above is a photo of more additions to the ‘Mixed Medium’ necklace family. Before, it was just silver & gold or purple/silver/black. Now, I’ve added a blue/black/silver necklace, a green/lime/gold necklace, and a red/pink/gold necklace. I intend on making one maybe of just colors…in the near future!

I’ve also finally broken down and made some mens’ jewelry, in addition to something bridal and another oceanic piece…we’ll break down those pieces in a few…

Next, I’ve got a really long (maybe 40 inches) necklace that I made with some semi-precious chips along the chain. I really like it, but will continue to tweak it as I go…

Amethyst earrings! These are some sparkly amethyst earrings I made with glass beads. I am a february baby, so amethyst is a color that I’m always looking at!

Next up are these tribal, Earth Nation feeling earrings. If you know me, you know I love Avatar, the Last Airbender and I feel these are some really tough Toph-esque earrings. I will be making a necklace to match these earrings, so stay tuned…. =D

Playing around with some beads that I’ve got lead to these earrings! I love the blend of light-not-so-light-and-dark beads that work really well together…

And I also love the way these earrings came together with this kind of copperish blend…

So we know I love turquoise, magnesite or dyed howlite. So, with these really large magnesite beads, I’ve created a necklace including some howlite and faceted rhodonite beads.

SUEDE braided bracelet – adjustable & unisex darling…

And like Mixed Medium, I added to the ‘Lock & Key’ earring family by creating three new pairs, and these are all interchangeable so long as your pair a key with a lock (duh!)

And with the following earrings, I’ve changed them three times before finally loving this:

and I think I posted this necklace before, but it wasn’t finished. I removed some of the length and I think it looks tons better!

Next is my Bridal Bracelet – made with swarovski crystals, glass beads, pearls and rhinstones and a little something blue!
Another charm bracelet with a cage and the charms that say ‘joy’ and ‘live’

A mens’ necklace- adjustable with bone & wood beads

my oceanic necklace – a giant seahorse with some pearls & crystals in sea-friendly colors

a Ram’s head men’s necklace – again made with bone beads, and adjustable suede cording

And finally, a pair of earrings to match my ‘God Save the Queen’ bracelet of long ago.
AND there will be more to come! As it is, I will be playing with veils soon as well as creating more and more pieces. I’ve moved the date from my intended flea from July to August =(  but it’s giving me more time to nab some cool displays, make more pieces and have lots of options for my buyers!! =D
Until later lovelies,
-Alja

Have We Met?

Hello all my darling followers!

It’s been a while since we last did an update and so now, I will share with you some of the creations I’ve made since last time!

As you can tell, it’s going to be a long post as I’ve got pictures of pieces I hadn’t photographed for you, mostly new pieces.

This bangle bracelet is made with some really neat acrylic beads. It’s super light and super cute- it’s a bit ethnic and bohemian and rich and earthy. It has no name yet, but when it does, I’ll let you know.

Here’s another view…in the palm of my hand…=D

Then there’s this doodad. Now – I made this with some antiqued copper frame pieces, cut little squares and glued them in there with some mod podge for a little dimension. It’s mainly plant/flower pieces so I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s name should refer to plants/flowers/earth. I’ve picked either Ceres, Demeter or Freya, all three fertility goddesses of Roman, Greek & Norse mythology, respectively. I still don’t know which to call her yet. What do you think?

In addition to the bracelet I made a pair of matching earrings. Aren’t they sweet?

I also made two new bracelets and one mock bracelet. The one of the left I’m tentatively calling “Trail of Tears” while the one on the right I’m calling ‘Chip & Chain.’ The one in the middle was my attempt at a masculine/mens bracelet, however, the suede cord was too small for my endeavors = c . With that being said, I still like the look and intend on repeating it once I get some more suede of that kind.

This darling bracelet is a re-design of my Tumbler bracelet, featured in another post. It was multi-color, but I didn’t like the design to much. Now, I’ve made it a shade of blue/green AND intend on making another with a different color scheme.

and THESE TWO lovely little dears are two earrings I whipped up last night. The one on the left however took a while. I had been working on those beads for weeks and didn’t know how to arrange them. As I was working on them, the one on the right popped into my head and BOOM- when I was done with that one, I finished the first. Isn’t it weird when things inspire one another?

A pair of chandelier earrings I’ve been meaning to make for a while now.

These earrings I call “Hera’s Wrath” because of her chosen creature being peacocks and the color scheme is very reminiscent of that.It features swarovski crystals and feathers and chains for some darkness, though, I will add more to thicken it up.

Waspy Earrings Completed!

Spacer dangle earrings….

This necklace was completed a while back, but never photographed for you guys to see! I call it “Serpentine”
and its matching earrings

Drop of Sun necklace inspired by the Drop of Sun earrings I made and sold. It’s basically like a name plate, but with drops of glass that look like bits of Sun…
Two little charm necklaces I whipped up. One with what seems to be a holy mother charm and the other an empty message bottle so you can fill it up with…whatever you like!

 And finally….

A new addition to the Mixed Medium Family!

So I’ve been thinking that the Mixed Medium necklace has been getting some buzz when I wear it out and that maybe, I should work with more colors. This Mixed Medium necklace features a lime green and a bright green chain embedded in a sea of gold. I will be working on other color combinations including pinks & blues so remember to check back.
AND That’s ALL for now FOLKS!
Please remember to like, share & comment! There are new pieces going up on the site every couple weeks so do forget to check that out too!

Getting Back to Business!

HEY ALL!

I’ve taken a bit of a hiatus to work on some other projects, but I feel the time has come for me to make some new creations, as I may be doing a flee market this summer in Williamsburg, Brooklyn!
These are some pieces that I completed a couple weeks ago, but have yet to show for your review:

This bracelet I’ve named “Winterfell” as it reminds me of the area in the North where the Starks of the novel “A Game of Thrones” (and series ‘A Song of Fire & Ice’) reside.

These little dangles are inspired by my love of Ancient Egyptian culture. so I’ve named them…Nefer, which is the Ancient Egyptian word for “to be beautiful.” I may change the name…I’m not sure I’m quite sold on it.

These little dangles are called “Fae,” as they are inspired by my love of fantasy and lore…

This bracelet I’ve made is called “Tiger’s Cage.” It features gold boxes and tiger striped lampwork glass beads.

And last but not least, there are my Gold barrel beads, but with a magnesite twist!

I hope you enjoyed and remember to check back here, at the store and on the twitter account for more news!

Recap!

Hey Darlings!
So, I meant to give you a re-cap of the jewelry party, but I’ve been so swamp on organizing all the goods, that I’ve been backed up in what I’ve been meaning to write. While I unfortunately did not get a chance to take out pictures of my crafty display, I did do a minor recreation:
I always knew in my head that I wanted to do a Dinner Party theme…because, well people are consuming my work in a way. And I think it’s innovative and a great way to use these supplies I have at home until I get the money up to buy the professional displays.
Anyhow, I had this tree displaying my earrings. I also placed one-side of the earring, that way more of my different designs could be seen. And in the nest, were all the ear-stoppers so that they wouldn’t be lost.

I then used the glass stems as a display for my bracelets, kind of like the way you have those wine glass jewelry, instead, well, REAL jewelry.
Obviously, the plates were to hold the bigger items of consumption: NECKLACES! And mainly the larger necklaces.
I also made my own earring cards as I’ve seen done online. They worked really well and I had them randomly placed around the table for added decor…

And in a stroke of genius, I decided to use some hor d’oeuvre platters to display smaller necklaces or chains, where the pendant are more of the focal point than the actual necklace.
and THAT was my display! I promise that if there is another jewelry party (*crosses fingers*), I will take photos. I think all my nerves and flustering on that day got the best of me…and my camera was in my POCKET! *growls* But, I’ll get it right next time.
Any who, even though I didn’t get to use it, I also had a credit card reader! YES! I’m doing big-girl things now! No one wanted to use their plastic, so it just sat there, but better safe than sorry!
Just plug into the iTouch and done!
NOW – A MOMENT FOR ALL THE PIECES THAT HAS LEFT US:

Peruvian Paradise Bracelet: This is the second bracelet I’ve made of this type, and one of the first ever designs I made. It’s found a new home! (YAY)
Purple Haze Earrings: these mother of pearl shell babies found a new home with the host who also purchased
the Tomb Raider Bracelet to have splendid adventures.
Just a Taste Earrings: I sold my second set of these earrings, along with
this Tale of Birds Necklace. It’s twin is still available for sale online here.
Spanish Armada Earrings: the fleet has finally sailed!
Full Moon Earrings: are now going to see the light of day!
Stardust Bracelet is now sparkling someone’s days
Graduated Colors: ‘Protection’ Chip Earrings is doing is duty. Get the other pieces for these earrings here.
These One-Of-A-Kind Gothic Chandelier Earrings are making someone happy!
and last, but not least
the Luxor Priestess Necklace is guarding someone with the ways of Ancient Egypt!
**REMEMBER** If there’s something off this list that you want, make sure to hit up the PPI facebook page and send a request. If it can be made, then it will be!
Lastly, I created three new babies that I will be posting soon:

‘copper shock’

‘burnt sun’

and a variation of my gifted ‘jaded earth’ earrings.

AND THAT’S A WRAP!

love,
-Alja

News, News and More News

Hello All,
I’m not entirely sure if I told you all this, but I had submitted a piece of mine to interweave’s Stringing magazine. The editors saw it online and asked to see it in person and then said that if they liked it, they’d let me know in about a month. That was March 2nd. I received an email last week saying that I was getting my package back this week and so I figured, they probably didn’t want it.
When I got my package today, this letter sealed the deal:
I knew it was coming, so I wasn’t entirely sad, but at least I can say that I tried. And there’s always time to submit for another magazine, I suppose.
Anyhow, I’ve placed my new jewelry on sale at my shop. Throughout the week, I will be placing up as many pieces as possible, with alerts through facebook and twitter.  BUT, As of 12:01 AM APRIL 21st, they will all be coming down, as I will be taking part in Pretty Poet Ink’s first jewelry party.
Let’s hope the saying ‘when one door closes, another opens’ has some real-time resonance. I’ve signed up for intuit’s go payments, so hopefully by the end of this week, I will be able to take credit card payments!!
T-MINUS, 4 DAYS, and counting…
-Alja
